George Chapman

Welcome to Fast News Friday – the weekly roundup of automotive news and content reviews brought to you by Foxtrot Papa. This week, Singer reveals its latest creation – the Turbo Study, BMW releases its latest Superbowl blockbuster ad and Bentley publishes a film revealing some impressive statements about the brand’s future.

Singer Turbo Study

Is this the coolest new car of 2022? Featuring a newly developed twin turbocharged engine, Singer has revealed a brand new direction with its latest creation, the Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer Turbo Study. Moving away from the aesthetic of its Classic model, the Turbo study instead channels styling cues from both the original Porsche 930 and later 964 Turbo, complete with wide arches, sumptuous interior and legendary ‘whale tail’ spoiler. The 3.8-litre flat six engine itself is built to specification by Porsche Motorsport North America, and features a twin-turbocharger and electronic wastegate setup. Keeping things cool are bespoke water-to-air intercoolers, meanwhile the classic shark-fin graphic on the body side has been reimagined as an intake, feeding the engine bay with cool air. Prices for Singer’s Turbo Study start from $750,000 (£556,0000) plus tax, with production likely to start towards the end of this year.

Zeus & Hera – BMW USA

Now, are you sitting comfortably? This latest mini blockbuster production from BMW USA is destined to make its premiere at this year’s Superbowl event in the coming weeks. Featuring Zeus (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger) and his partner (Salma Hayek), the tongue-in-cheek clip is promoting the impressive BMW iX SUV. BMW states: “Retiring from Mount Olympus to Palm Springs, Zeus is underwhelmed by all earthly electric things and becomes a shell of his former self. But right when we think all hope is lost, his wife, Hera, introduces him to the all-electric BMW iX and helps mighty Zeus reclaim his spark.” Featuring unicorns and countless bolts of lightning, it certainly made us smile, and will no doubt help the iX’s popularity in the US.

Bentley: 5 new electric cars in 5 years

In this understated short film from Bentley, the company announces that its first all-electric car is nearing completion. What’s more impressive is that Bentley plans to release five new electric cars in five years – that’s a new electric car every year from 2025. The film also introduces some of the company’s environmental credentials and changes that have taken place at the company HQ in Crewe, featuring animated overlays and slick B-roll footage. To conclude, the film states that Bentley will be end-to-end carbon neutral by 2030.
